'Dada's Day'

Bit and I spent a TON of time making a video for Justin for Father's Day. Sorted through folders upon folders of pictures, searched the internet for the perfect music, found easy-to-use video software to create the thing. Then when I went to produce it, it told me that because I was using the free version of the software, it would have a watermark throughout most of the video. Grrr... oh well. Bit and I are still proud of how it turned out. Justin liked it too. As he put it, "it may have produced some tear-age." Justin is the most amazing father to our daughter, and she couldn't love her dada more.

Meet my fam!

So now that I've started blogging again, I've discovered that I'm seeing the world through blog-tinted glasses. Meaning, when something funny and exciting happens, my mind immediately jumps to, "oooh, how can I make this an interesting post?"

But that actually has nothing to do with this post. I want to take a few minutes and introduce you all to my little family. So without further ado...

This is me. This picture was taken on the day I sucked a cup to my face. I don't want to talk about it anymore than that. :)

This is my husband Justin. He's really a wonderful husband and daddy. We have our hard times, our differences, our fights, our laughs, our sillies, our special times together, but really, what couple doesn't. There is nobody I'd rather experience the ups and downs of life with than this man.

This exquisite child is my daughter, Alexandra Noelle, aka Allie, Bit, Little Bit, Bitty, AllieBug, McBit, Spawn, Mufs, Little Mufs, Mufsy. And the list goes on. She turned 19 months old on June 2, and she has the sweetest, cutest, funniest, sneakiest, conniving-est, precious personality. Experiencing the world through an innocent child's eyes is so precious, and I'm blessed to be able to experience it through Allie.

These wonderful creatures are our dog, Dingo, and one of our cats, Wem. They have a love/hate relationship. Meaning, Dingo hates Wem and Wem loves to torment Dingo. They really are awesome pets and are so good with Allie, even though she sits on their faces, pulls their ears, and pokes their winkies.

This is our other cat, Olive. She initially started out as a foster from the shelter, but we fell in love with her and decided to keep her. She's kind of a mama b**** and is your typical cat, but when she's in the mood, she loves to snuggle. She may seem sweet and gentle, but don't be fooled; she's at the top of the pecking order in this house.

These are our 3 bunnies: Leonard, Gabby and Chloe, respectively. Their full names are Sir Leonard Mitzvah the Jewish Snuggle Bunny, Gabrielle Luftwaffe Benwoit, and Chloe Avalanche Keister von Schmoozle. (yes, I named them. Don't judge me.) Their favorite things to do are snack on craisins, dig in the dirt, snack on craisins, shed and leave fur all over the place, snack on craisins... They are the sweetest bunnies ever. Leonard is a Rex mix, Gabs is a Flemish giant and weighs about 28 lbs, and Chloe is a Holland Lop.

This is our box turtle, Darth Maul Rosental. We usually just call him Turd though. It may look like he's stuck in his log, but don't be fooled. He actually enjoys stretching out like this.

Sadly, I don't have any pictures of Geico, our leopard gecko, and Ozzie, our corn snake, but they're pretty chill.

And last but not least, even though she's not mine anymore, I couldn't leave out my partner-in-crime of 4 years, Hollis. If you've ever seen Family Guy, picture Stewie. If Stewie were a horse, he would be Hollis. That about sums up this mare's personality to a tee. We get along great. :) Hollis now belongs to a wonderful lady Carolyne and I am so thankful that she lets me come out and ride her when I need my Hollis fix.

And that's us in a nutshell! My crazy, eclectic, lovable little family. We tried to get a family picture with us and all the animals, but it got a little out of hand. (that last statement may or may not have been a lie) :)

Hiking at Paris Mountain on Memorial Day

Husbands, babies, clothing and dental accessories

I usually stay at home on Fridays, but I had to go into work for a few hours this morning for a meeting. When I got back home, Justin and Allie were playing in the living room. I noticed he had already dressed her for the day.

I *will* give the man props on today's outfit: it matched, it fit her, and it was the right type of clothes for the season. (Side note: This is definitely an improvement from when Allie was an infant, and I would come home and find her dressed in a pastel striped polo shirt and paisley pants, because "they both had green in them." sigh.)

Allie ran up to me as I walked in the door, hugged my legs, then ran off across the room. I noticed she had a long string hanging out the back of her shorts and asked Justin to grab it as she ran by him.

He held it up in front of his face, and we both stared at it. "How did she get DENTAL FLOSS in her shorts?" we both said at the same time.

Yeah, who knows. It's still a mystery.

Here we go again

Throughout the past few years, I've had several people tell me that I should start a blog. So I did, and then didn't really keep up with it. I realized recently that my facebook statuses are starting to read like a glorified blog, so I figured I should probably look at blogging again. And also, I miss it. :)

I'm currently working on writing out my entire pregnancy saga. Many people have asked me why I was on bedrest, what the heck did I do with my time, how did the pregnancy turn out (well, obviously it resulted in a baby, but you know, like the health-related issues), and such things. But, as pregnancy IS a 9 month long deal, it's taking a bit of time.

In the meantime, I'll update you on my life right now. (mostly for my friends who I don't talk to on a regular basis or haven't seen since high school). My amazing daughter Alexandra Noelle was born on Nov. 2, 2010, and has changed my life forever. I married the man of my dreams, Justin, on July 17, 2011. He works for Greenville County at their animal shelter as an Adoptions Counselor/vet tech. I'm working at a small software company, EmbTrak Inc., in South Carolina part time. My official title is Customer Communications Coordinator, but really I do a little bit of this and a little bit of that, including but not limited to: writing documentation for the software, creating and developing tutorials for new customers, quality assurance on new versions and upgrades, answering the phones, customer support, and self-appointed party planning. I've been working there since Feb. 2011, after my 3 year stint as a reporter at Link magazine with The Greenville News. I work 3 days a week and stay home with Allie 2 days, so it's a really nice mix.

We've pared down our menagerie in the past year or so, as we've adjusted to life with a small child in the house. My best 4-legged equine friend of 4 years, Hollis, now belongs to a sweet, sweet lady about 15 minutes away from me who still lets me come out and ride her. That was a HUGE adjustment in my life, but I felt it was the right thing to do, both for me and for Hollis. There will definitely be another horse in my future (and maybe a pony in Allie's?), but right now, life is just too busy for such a huge commitment. We have a dog, Dingo, who is great with Allie and very protective of his humans. Our cats, Wem and Olive, keep each other and Dingo in line. Gabby, Chloe and Leonard, our 3 bunnies, live on our screened in back porch and basically have the easiest life a rabbit could ever ask for. Geico, our gecko, makes us keep our fridge stocked with mealworms and crickets. Our corn snake Ozzie and turtle Darth Maul Rosenthal (aka Turd) are super low key.

Shows I'm addicted to: Judge Judy, People's Court, Law & Order SVU, Parenthood, Family Guy, Chuck, Love in the Wild, The Voice, I Love Lucy. (for when life slows down and I get a chance to actually watch TV).

Hobbies I do, or at least attempt: horseback riding (hunter/jumper with a tad bit of dabbling in dressage), scrapbooking, knitting, cross-stitching, running, baking, cooking, reading, shopping, talking.

Well I think I hear the wee one waking up from her nap, so that's it for now.
